Participants will learn:
- Restoration Therapy applications to therapy with children, couples, and stepfamily multi-household configurations.
- Family process dynamics that are different in blended families than in biological families.
- How attachment, loss, and loyalty issues create competing attachments and barriers to family integration.
- Practical therapeutic procedures in working with stepcouples and their children and learn how to discern traditional therapeutic interventions not suited for stepfamilies.
- To describe the differing roles of biological parents and stepparents as they relate to raising children in stepfamilies and marital cohesion.
- Coaching applications of these clinical principles for those who do premarital counseling, marriage education, and/or marriage ministry.
